Cuisine: American
Serves: 12 servings

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup all-purpose flour
  2. 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  3. 1/2 cup sugar
  4. 1/2 cup butter, softened
  5. 1/4 cup brown sugar
  6. 1 tsp vanilla extract
  7. 1/2 tsp baking soda
  8. 1/4 tsp salt
  9. 1/2 cup Nutella

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt to ensure a smooth, lump-free mixture.
  3. In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy, approximately 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture and mix until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until a soft chocolate cookie dough forms.
  6. Scoop out about 1 tablespoon of cookie dough and flatten it into a small disc using your hands.
  7. Place a small dollop (about 1 teaspoon) of Nutella in the center of each dough disc.
  8. Carefully fold the edges of the dough around the Nutella, completely encasing it and forming a ball. Ensure the Nutella is fully sealed inside.
  9. Place the stuffed cookie dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still slightly soft.
  11. Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  12. Once cooled, the cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.

Tips

  1. Ensure your butter is softened but not melted to achieve the perfect cookie texture.
  2. Chill the Nutella for 15-20 minutes before stuffing to make it easier to handle and prevent leaking.
  3. Use a cookie scoop for uniform cookie sizes and even baking.
  4. Don't overmix the dough to keep the cookies tender and soft.
  5. Make sure to completely seal the Nutella inside the dough to prevent leakage during baking.
  6. Let the cookies cool slightly on the baking sheet to help them set and prevent breaking.
  7. For an extra touch, sprinkle some sea salt on top before baking to enhance the chocolate flavor.
